Corporate Training & Development

VJC uses its bespoke Boeing 737-800 flight simulator to challenge, inspire and develop management teams and individuals from organisations of all kinds across the public and private sectors, where an organisation has recognised there is a core need for a different kind of learning and development.

Training at the VJC is rooted in the experiences of the aviation industry, where the concept of learning from mistakes is a cultural given.

Safe, efficient flying depends on well-trained professionals performing well under stress and working as a team. Pilot and aircrew training is as much about social and personal factors, such as communication and decision-making, as technical skills. Management teams and professionals from other sectors can learn a great deal from the training techniques developed for the aviation industry.

Available Courses:

There are two basic packages that can be tailored to specific requirements. A VJC corporate training course takes one day and begins with a team briefing, followed by a training session on the flight simulator. Specific activities, assignments and tests take place inside the aircraft according to the training scenario, followed by analysis, feedback, discussion and debriefing.

There are two basic packages that can be tailored to specific requirements:

VJC’s management training courses adapt these techniques to help organisations test and develop their senior managers’ personal and organisational skills. In the unique and challenging environment of VJC’s bespoke Boeing 737-800 flight simulator, trainees will find their decision-making abilities, thought processes, communication and leadership skills tested to the utmost.

They will make mistakes – but that is the point. In the aviation industry, mistakes are neither buried nor ignored. They are treated as a valuable learning resource. It’s called Black Box Thinking. VJC’s courses uniquely provide delegates with the opportunity to learn from their mistakes in a way that does not embarrass or shame, but supports and enhances the learning experience.

VJC’s Human Factors training develops the social and interpersonal skills required to lead teams. Delegates will learn how to think calmly under pressure, take responsibility, interact with others and cope with the unexpected.

VJC training is ideally suited to high performance teams and senior management at any organisation.

Training packages can be tailored to meet all requirements, and can be applied to assessing prospective candidates as well as developing potential leaders and emerging talent.

How it works:

The VJC 737-800 simulator is transformed into a management training tool for testing, assessing and educating delegates. Our qualified training teams are made up of experienced commercial airline pilots and behavioural psychologists. They create scenarios based around the experience of flying a Boeing 737, based on the requirements of the individual client.

The specifics will depend on the training package chosen. Our Assessment & Development programmes transform our state-of-the-art flight simulator into a tool for forensic testing of key business performance metrics, designed to assess skills, diagnose weaknesses and identify potential for improvement. Our Human Factors training draws on aviation industry techniques such as Crew Resource Management to promote teamwork, communication and decision-making within the context of a realistic flight mission.
Our teams work with clients to develop programmes that meet the organisation’s specific need, whether that is to test existing skills, develop new capabilities or harness untapped potential – all in an engaging, ground-breaking, interactive environment far removed from the sterility of the traditional training centre.
