The Virtual Jet Centre is owned and operated by Capt Andy Wilkins, who was with Thomson Airways for nearly twenty years, having flown both Airbus and Boeing Aircraft.
He has flown professionally for over 30 years, starting as a Private Pilot instructor, and moving on to eventually training commercial airline pilots, and latterly teaching Multi-crew training on a full motion Boeing 747-400. He is also an Examiner, and a MCCI Examiner.
His first love has always been training, hence the centre, but the idea was also to offer the general public the chance to come and experience what it is like to be privileged enough to experience the real thrill of flying a jet. In these frustrating days, when the public are not allowed in the flight deck of an airliner this will give everybody the chance to come and see, feel, and touch the closest thing to a real aircraft.
A primary use for the centre will be as a training center of future airline crews. The school will be processing an application with the UK Civil Aviation Authority/EASA for full ATO Status, allowing the centre to offer MCC training. However we will be able to offer JOC courses from day one.
Andy will also be offering a unique course, for fear of flying. This is something that is a real problem to a surprising number of travellers. For years he has taken a special interest in passengers flying on his aircraft who suffer from this debilitating problem. By talking to them in person he has come up with a unique way to try and help overcome this dreadful problem.
